Glacier Moraine Tidal Pools Under Midnight Sun
Dark, jagged ridges of glacial debris stretch across a wide valley floor near Fairbanks, creating a rugged foreground against rolling gray clouds. Gentle snowflakes drift through the air, settling on the rough, gray stones and the still surfaces of deep tidal pools nestled within the moraine. The early morning light remains low, casting the landscape in deep shadow while a faint rim of silver rim-light traces the highest cloud edges and the tips of the ice fragments. The water in the pools acts as a perfect mirror, reflecting the heavy sky and the dark earth to create a symmetrical, doubled horizon. This composition emphasizes the geologic grandeur of the scene, where the texture of coarse gravel contrasts with the smooth, glass-like water, and the falling snow adds a layer of softness to the otherwise harsh terrain.
