Giant Selenite Crystals in Gypsum Cave Near Kayseri

by Valentina Bond

Dappled sunlight falls through overhead leaves, casting shifting patches of brightness across the jagged interior of a gypsum cave near Kayseri. Towering selenite crystals dominate the space, their translucent white forms rising from the earth with sharp, geometric edges. The noon sun creates a flat glare outside, but inside, the light dances softly on the crystal surfaces, highlighting their glassy texture and subtle internal fractures. The ground is rough and dusty, against the smooth, elongated tips of the minerals. A perfectly clear blue sky is visible through the cave opening above, framing the stillness of the stone structures against the vibrant green of the surrounding foliage. at the edge is a single ray of light resting on a crystal tip, turning it into a prism of soft white.
