White Gypsum Dunes at Dawn in Australian Outback in from a ridge above layered foothills in Australia

White Gypsum Dunes at Dawn in Australian Outback

by Tiffany Mullins

Cold silver dawn light floods the undulating white sand dunes, revealing the fine, powdery texture of gypsum crystals scattered across the ridges. The landscape stretches into a deep valley where layered foothills display bands of rust, ochre, and grey sediment. Sharp shadows carve deep troughs between the dunes, showing the steep angles of the terrain. A perfectly clear sky fades from pale violet to soft blue above the horizon. The foreground sand appears almost luminous against the darker, shadowed hollows below. At the edge of the frame, a solitary rock fragment casts a thin, elongated shadow across the smooth dune slope.
