Fossil Trackway Cast on Winter Night Platform
A textured concrete cast of ancient fossil tracks rests against stacked sandbags under the harsh glare of a field station tent. The pale gray surface of the cast shows deep, irregular ridges where dinosaur feet once pressed into mud millions of years ago. Condensation beads along the edges of cold metal housings nearby, glistening in the silvery light. The sandbags appear weathered and coarse, against the smooth, molded stone of the replica. Behind the subject, the dark canvas of the tent frames the scene, while the shallow depth of field blurs the distant research equipment into soft shapes. The ground beneath is a mix of gravel and dirt, scattered with small stones. A faint shadow stretches from the cast toward the right, anchored by the low angle of the artificial light.
