Silhouetted Fossil Jacket Drying in Portugal

Backlit golden hour light outlines a heavy canvas fossil jacket resting beside rough burlap sacks and plaster buckets on the damp earth of a remote Portuguese field station. Late autumn rain leaves the ground slick and dark, reflecting the low sun in scattered patches. Humid air hangs visible as a soft haze around the equipment edges. Dust coats the fabric folds while water beads roll down the curved sides of the plaster containers. Shallow depth of field blurs the distant scrub brush into a green-brown wash, keeping focus on the texture of the drying gear. A long shadow falls across the wet soil at the edge of the frame.
