Fossil Excavation in Copper Light Nawabshah
Soft copper-toned light from the dying day washes over a cluster of exposed sedimentary rock resting on damp earth. A fine brush with a worn wooden handle sweeps across the fossil's surface, lifting loose clay dust into the humid air. The stone surface is rough and gray, against the smooth, pale bone fragments peeking through the matrix. Tiny droplets of recent rain glisten on the soil, reflecting the warm sunset hues. The excavator's hand enters the frame from the right, fingers steady and gloved in faded blue fabric, carefully maneuvering the bristles. Behind the main subject, the ground slopes gently, revealing layers of stratified earth in shades of ochre and rust. A small pile of discarded soil sits to the left, its texture powdery and dry against the wetter surrounding ground. The final brush stroke reveals a jagged edge of bone embedded in the clay.
