Geologist Brushes Ammonite Fossil Whorls in Lab
Clean white laboratory surfaces reflect the soft, diffuse glow of heavy overcast skies filtering through unseen windows. A geologist's hands hold a fine brush, gently sweeping loose shale dust away from the spiraling whorls of an ammonite fossil. The stone rests on a flat, symmetrical workbench, its gray and tan layers against the bright background. Late summer light enters the room as a flat, even sheet, eliminating harsh shadows while highlighting the rough texture of the rock and the smooth ceramic of the brush handle. Fine particles of sediment hang momentarily in the air before settling. at the edge shows the brush bristles parting a tiny ridge of rock along the fossil's outer edge.
