Forsaken Prison Cell Block Reclaimed by Grasses

Steel-blue ambient light floods the courtyard near BKK1 in Phnom Penh as city lights begin to glow on the horizon. Tall grasses reclaim the cracked concrete floor, their pale green stalks swaying gently in the cooling air after a storm. Rows of heavy steel cell doors hang open on every tier, their rusted hinges groaning silently against the damp atmosphere. The walls show layers of peeling paint and water stains, marking years of neglect. Shadows stretch long across the wet ground, reflecting the faint orange glow of distant streetlamps. One rusted bolt on the lowest door frame catches the dim light, anchoring the view in this resilient decay.
