Meteor Shower Trails Over Phoenix Canyon at Midnight in from a moonlit breakwater near Phoenix

Meteor Shower Trails Over Phoenix Canyon at Midnight

by Lars Kidd

Bright white streaks of meteors slice diagonally across a deep indigo sky above the rugged silhouette of a desert canyon. The foreground features a concrete moonlit breakwater, its rough texture illuminated by faint starlight reflecting off damp surfaces. Sparse desert shrubs stand dark and still against the horizon, their shapes sharp in the unusually clear air following a recent rain. The canyon walls rise steeply, carved by ancient water flows, their reddish-brown tones muted under the night glow. Tiny pinpricks of stars fill the spaces between the falling light trails, creating a vast sense of distance. One bright meteor trail ends abruptly near the canyon rim, leaving a faint, fading glow against the black rock.
