Surreal Reef Lightning Before Dawn Over Denpasar

Deep shadow swallows the volcanic reef overhang near Denpasar while the outer barrier reef rises in silhouette against the pre-dawn sky. A frozen lightning bolt branches visibly across the darkness, its jagged white veins illuminating the plankton haze that softens the distant water. Waves break along the reef edge, their white foam caught in mid-motion against the dark rock. The rim light traces the curve of the water and the rough texture of the volcanic stone. Cool season air hangs still, though the lightning suggests a sudden, impossible electrical charge. One droplet of water rests on the jagged edge of the reef, reflecting the branching bolt above.
