Dew Spots on Ladybug Shell Late Afternoon in in Sichuan

Dew Spots on Ladybug Shell Late Afternoon

by Derrick Wood

Vibrant crimson curves dominate the frame, hosting a cluster of black spots that catch the harsh coastal glare of late afternoon. Tiny spheres of dew rest on the glossy exoskeleton, distorting the light into miniature prisms. A faint, light fog softens the background, blurring the green stems of early autumn foliage in Sichuan. The shell reflects the sky with a wet sheen, while sharp shadows define the edges of the spots. Each droplet sits perfectly round, resting on the textured ridges of the insect's back. at the edge is a single bead of water sliding slowly down the curve toward the edge.
