Silhouetted Ladybug on Wind-Scoured Grass Ridge

A flat, white noon sky floods a rocky ridge in the French Riviera, turning a single blade of dry, late autumn grass into a dark silhouette. The grass bends sharply, its frayed edges catching the soft, diffused light that follows a recent rain. Perched near the tip sits a ladybug, its rounded shell appearing almost black against the bright background. The insect remains utterly still, its legs gripping the thin stem with rigid precision. Behind the subject, the terrain stretches into a haze of pale blue scrub and exposed limestone, stripped bare by the wind. The light creates a high-contrast edge along the curve of the shell, highlighting the tiny, sharp points of the grass blades against the washed-out horizon.
