Mirage of Icebergs Over Mekong Delta in beneath fast-moving cloud bands in the Mekong Delta

Mirage of Icebergs Over Mekong Delta

by Evelyn Perry

Low morning light strikes the horizon haze beneath fast-moving cloud bands, transforming the flat Mekong Delta landscape into a deceptive vista. Distant water ripples reflect the pale sky, creating vertical distortions that mimic jagged icebergs rising from the river. The heavy overcast sky casts a soft, diffused glow across the scene, while the turn of seasons leaves the surrounding vegetation in muted greens and browns. Layers of depth recede from the foreground reeds into the shimmering atmospheric distortion. The water surface acts as a mirror, bending the light to form these impossible structures that hover just above the river, their edges blurring into the warm, hazy air before fading into the distant gray.
