Cornfield Nets Under Rain Near Samara Tea Plantation

Heavy rain falls steadily over a block of cornfields where protective nets stretch wide across the stalks. The sky remains a solid sheet of high gray cloud, diffusing the late afternoon light into a flat, even glow. Dappled patterns from nearby tea plantation leaves dance across the wet, dark green corn husks and the pale mesh of the nets. Water beads on the synthetic fibers, pulling the eye along the taut lines that recede into the distance. The ground is saturated, reflecting the dull sky in shallow puddles between the rows. The scene holds a quiet, practical stillness as the nets hold their shape against the falling water. One thread of rain streaks across the lower right corner of the mesh.
