Dawn Shadow Over Wheat Rows in at the edge of a tea plantation in Kuwait

Dawn Shadow Over Wheat Rows

by Jorge Friedman

Cool, pale light spreads across wet wheat stalks at the edge of a tea plantation in Kuwait. A massive, soft shadow from a passing cloud cuts diagonally through the golden-green rows, creating a stark contrast between the illuminated moisture on the grain heads and the deep gray darkness beneath. The ground glistens with recent rain, reflecting the low sky. In the distance, the structured rows of tea bushes form a textured green wall against the brightening horizon. The wheat stands tall and heavy, its stalks bowed slightly under the weight of the water droplets clinging to them. The shadow edge is sharp, marking the boundary where the sun has not yet returned to the soil. One dewdrop hangs from the tip of a foreground stalk, trembling slightly before falling.
