Drying tea baskets in monsoon morning shadow

by Dixie Langley

Morning light breaks the heavy monsoon haze, touching only the upper rim of a weathered tea shed while the structure remains in deep shadow. Woven bamboo baskets hang in neat rows beneath the eaves, their natural fibers absorbing the dim, cool light. Beyond the shed, a harvested grain field stretches flat and brown, its stubble visible through the low-lying mist. The distant horizon blurs into a soft grey wash, isolating the dark timber frame of the shelter. One wicker rim catches the faint glow, defining the edge against the gloom.
