Copper Light and Power Lines in Lahore Terminal

by Norma Hardin

Honey-colored light floods the high ceiling of a restored train terminal near Lahore, illuminating a complex network of power lines that cross at sharp, intersecting angles. The monsoon season hangs heavy in the humid air, visible as a soft haze against the dark structural beams. Copper-toned daylight bleeds through large arched windows, casting long, rhythmic shadows across the worn concrete floor. Lamplight begins to settle into the deep corners, creating pools of warm yellow against the cooling blue-gray of the approaching dusk. The diagonal composition of the wires creates clear geometric tension, pulling the eye across the vast, empty space. One bolt on a rusted metal bracket catches the fading light, marking the edge of the frame.
