Noon Light Spiral Staircase Lamu Terminal in inside a restored train terminal near Lamu

Noon Light Spiral Staircase Lamu Terminal

by Eva Nava

Flat noon glare floods the interior of a restored train terminal near Lamu, bouncing off pale limestone walls. A spiral staircase occupies the lower third of the view, its stone steps forming a tight geometric circle. Condensation beads densely on the glass of a nearby window, blurring the bright exterior. The light highlights the smooth, curved edges of the steps while deep shadows fall across the recesses between them. Water droplets track down the glass pane, visible against the harsh illumination. The rigid stone lines of the stairs rest beside the wet, blurred surface of the window.
