Autumn Light Through Stained Glass Terminal in inside a restored train terminal in Lanzhou

Autumn Light Through Stained Glass Terminal

by Ezra Aguirre

Late afternoon sun fractures into geometric ribbons of amber, deep crimson, and cobalt blue as it passes through the stained glass window. The light strikes the pale, textured plaster walls of the restored Lanzhou train terminal, creating soft, diffuse pools of color that shift in intensity. Tiny dust particles hang suspended in the air, visible only where the beams cut through the room, forming a hazy, glowing volume. The stained glass panes show signs of age with slight imperfections in the lead cames, casting sharp, angular shadows against the smooth floor. The composition isolates a section of the window and the wall, showing the mix of warm autumn light against the cool, neutral tones of the industrial architecture. One sliver of gold light rests on a crack in the concrete baseboard.
