A biologist stands centered on a weathered log, legs spread for balance, holding glass specimen jars filled with amber liquid above a dark, still swamp. Late autumn leaves in rust and ochre scatter the water's surface and rest on the log's rough bark. Heavy overcast skies diffuse the setting sun, casting long, sharp shadows that stretch symmetrically across the water from the figure's silhouette. The low light catches the condensation on the glass jars, highlighting their cylindrical shapes against the muted greens and browns of the marshland near Settat. The biologist's posture is rigid and focused, knees slightly bent as they navigate the uneven wood. A final drop of water beads on the rim of the nearest jar, catching the faint horizon glow.
