Steel-blue twilight washes the Scottish Highlands, where heavy overcast skies diffuse the fading natural light. Beside a white observatory dome, a biologist in a heavy winter coat works at a wooden table covered in canvas bags. The researcher carefully handles small bats, each fitted with a colored identification tag, sorting them into individual cloth pouches. In the distance, the soft glow of city lights begins to pierce the gloom, creating a faint horizon line against the darkening hills. The scene is anchored by the symmetry of the dome and the table, showing the methodical nature of the work. A red tag on a bat wing reflects the ambient steel-blue light, marking the edge of the subject's focus.
