Baroque Church Facade Near San Luis Potosí Fortress

by Serena Lin

Pale limestone carvings of saints stand in deep niches along the weathered facade of a Baroque church. The stone surface bears the marks of a wet season, glistening under a fine, continuous drizzle. Behind the structure, the high, rough-hewn walls of a fortress rise, their texture softened by the moisture. Distant city lights begin to glow on the horizon, casting a warm, amber reflection across the slick, dark pavement in the foreground. This mirrored surface doubles the image of the sculpted figures, creating a symmetrical composition where the wet ground meets the solid stone. Raindrops bead on the carved halos and ripples distort the reflected glow of the town lights below.
