Clock Tower Swept by Night Light in Drizzle in along a colonnaded facade in Kansai

Clock Tower Swept by Night Light in Drizzle

by Shannon Farley

Wet cobblestones reflect the rhythmic sweep of a powerful beam cutting through the deepest night sky. A stone clock tower rises against a colonnaded facade, its surface glistening with early autumn rain. The lighthouse-like illumination alternates between stark brightness and deep shadow, highlighting the texture of the masonry and the dark glass of the clock face. Droplets hang suspended in the air, catching the light as the beam rotates. The colonnade arches curve into the darkness, their bases submerged in a shallow layer of water that mirrors the tower and the sweeping light. The wet pavement creates a perfect inverted image, doubling the architectural lines and the moving beam in a symmetrical composition.
