Silvery Night Light on Baroque Church Facade Meghalaya in beside a canal-front facade in Meghalaya

Silvery Night Light on Baroque Church Facade Meghalaya

by Brian Benson

Cool silvery light illuminates the ornate Baroque facade of a stone church standing beside a canal in Meghalaya. The deep night sky presses above the structure while late summer greenery frames the scene. Sculpted saints occupy arched niches along the wall, their weathered features catching the unusual glow. Moss rests on the base of the masonry where the canal water laps against the foundation. Intricate carvings of drapery and halos stand out against the dark stone, rendered in sharp relief by the light. A reflection of the moon ripples across the water surface, mirroring the highest statue in the central niche. The stone texture shows years of exposure, with cracks filled by dark organic growth.
