Ball Lightning Near Sargodha Tree Midsummer Rain

by Cruz Aguilar

A luminous sphere of pale violet light hovers inches from the rough, dark bark of a neem tree. The orb pulses with an internal glow, casting a faint, cool illumination on the surrounding leaves that are still wet from the recent storm. Thick branches stretch upward, their surfaces slick with rainwater, while the sky behind remains a soft, washed-out grey. Wind whips the foliage into a blur of motion, yet the glowing sphere remains perfectly still, a disciplined anomaly against the chaotic movement of the tree. The light reflects sharply off the wet leaves, creating tiny, bright specks along the edges of the canopy.
