Raindrops on Moss and Salt Crystals at Dawn

by Pearl LeBlanc

Pale dawn light slides across a floor of white salt crystals, illuminating the sharp edges of the mineral formations. Tiny green moss tips rise from the crust, each crowned with a perfect, trembling sphere of water from the recent rain. The droplets catch the soft morning glow, refracting the pale sky into miniature prisms. Salt shards vary in size, creating a textured landscape of translucent and opaque geometry. The water beads hold their shape tightly against the rough moss, while the surrounding salt remains dry and jagged. One droplet hangs precariously from a moss tip, its curved surface reflecting the surrounding white crystals in distorted miniature.
