Bald Eagle Soars Above Glacial Stream

Pale gold light strikes the horizon haze, cutting through the gray overcast of an early winter morning. A bald eagle spreads its dark wings against the sky, white head bright above a glacial stream in Manitoba. Tiny silver dots from light drizzle break across the dark water surface. The view starts near the muddy, damp bank, looking up at the bird suspended in the cool stillness. Wet feathers appear sleek and heavy, catching the faint glow. Beside the water, a reed tip holds a falling droplet. The eagle's yellow talons extend downward, rigid and sharp against the churning cold current.
