Frozen Waterfall Aerial View Alberta Winter in far above terraced hillsides in Alberta

Frozen Waterfall Aerial View Alberta Winter

by Mallory Norris

Soft, diffused light falls through low-hanging clouds to illuminate a frozen waterfall cascading diagonally across the frame. The ice forms a jagged, translucent ribbon against the stark white snow covering the terraced hillsides of Alberta. Patches of dark, dormant vegetation peek through the ice crust, creating a textured mosaic of charcoal and pale blue. The diagonal flow of the frozen stream cuts sharply through the horizontal layers of the landscape, showing the steep gradient of the terrain. Snow clings heavily to the rocky outcrops on either side, while the central ice channel remains smooth and glassy. A final edge of fractured ice glints where the water once rushed, marking the boundary between the frozen cascade and the untouched snowfield below.
