Amber Classroom Aquarium Fractions Lightning Sky
by Jeff Valdez
Rich amber sunset light floods an art classroom near Boise, illuminating a large glass aquarium resting on a desk beneath a blackboard filled with white fraction equations. Tiny bubbles rise through the water, catching the golden glow, while a frozen lightning bolt branches visibly across the aquarium's interior, defying the indoor setting. Polished wooden desks and the smooth glass surface reflect small, sharp highlights from the storm within the tank. The blackboard chalk dust hangs suspended in the air, illuminated by the electric blue and white light of the trapped lightning. Layers of depth recede from the foreground desk to the back wall, where the impossible storm creates a stark contrast against the studious concentration of the empty room. One fraction on the blackboard reflects the jagged blue lightning on the wet glass surface.
