Snow and Sun in Foggy Art Classroom Window

by Melissa Nguyen

Early autumn light fills an art classroom near Nagoya, illuminating a large window pane heavily fogged by the breath of students and steam from tea cups. The glass surface acts as a divider, splitting the view into two impossible weather conditions. On the left, white snowflakes drift steadily against the darkening glass, settling on the sills. On the right, bright sunshine streams through, casting sharp, warm highlights on the wooden desks and the condensation droplets. The fog blurs the outlines of figures inside, leaving only soft shapes and the glow of ceramic cups. Soft reflections of the room's interior bounce off the wet glass, merging with the falling snow. One droplet of water rests on the bottom edge of the window frame, distinct against the white snow.
