Aerial Peat Bog and Salt Ponds Tianjin Midsummer
by Eva Buckley
Dark, irregular pools of water nestle within the textured earth of a peat bog, viewed from a high vantage point. Diagonal lines of causeways slice through the landscape, creating a sharp geometric tension against the organic shapes of the wetland. Bright midmorning sunlight illuminates the scene, casting subtle shadows that define the depth of the water and the roughness of the dried peat surfaces. Low-hanging clouds drift overhead, their soft grey undersides against the deep ochre and charcoal tones of the bog. The salt ponds nearby reflect the sky in patches of pale blue and white, adding a cool hue to the warm earth. The diagonal arrangement of the causeways pulls attention across the frame, highlighting the intricate relationship between the natural wetland and the constructed paths that traverse it. A dark ripple on the surface of a foreground pool marks the edge of a submerged root system.
