Aerial View of Dark Peat Bog Pools

Soft, diffused light from a late afternoon sky washes over the undulating terrain of a New Zealand dune field. Dark, irregular pools of water sit embedded within the peat bog, their surfaces calm and reflective against the surrounding earth. Patches of ground fog rest on the lowest depressions, creating a soft white texture that contrasts with the deep browns and muted greens of the bog. The landscape stretches into the distance where dry wadis cut through the dunes, their pale sandy tones catching the fading light. Geometric patterns of human tracks and natural erosion lines intersect across the surface, forming a complex tapestry. A small cluster of dark stones marks the edge of a pool in the lower right corner, at the base of the expansive view.
