Winter Salt Ponds Leeds Drone View

Pale grey mist rests on the surface of shallow salt ponds near Leeds, obscuring the boundary between water and sky. Meandering channels cut through the dark earth like ink lines on a map, their edges softened by frost. Tall, brittle reeds stand frozen in clusters, their brown stalks breaking the smooth monotony of the wetland. Low winter sun casts long, sharp shadows from the causeways, stretching across the water in geometric patterns that emphasize the flat topography. The light is cool and diffuse, revealing the texture of the mudflats without glare. A network of raised paths divides the pools into precise rectangular sections. at the edge is the crisp white rim of frost lining the edge of a single channel.
