Pink and Turquoise Salt Ponds Aerial View Kuwait
by Arnold Doyle
Layers of geometric salt evaporation ponds stretch across the flat Kuwaiti terrain, their surfaces glowing with intense pink and turquoise hues against the receding landscape. Golden hour light strikes the water from behind, turning the shallow basins into dark, silhouetted shapes that define the edges of the brine. Braided river channels weave through the foreground, their muddy brown tones against the vibrant artificial colors of the salt works. The clear sky above offers no clouds, allowing the sharp lines of the ponds to stand out with cartographic precision. In early autumn, the dry earth surrounding the ponds appears dusty and pale, showing the stark industrial geometry of the water collection system. A faint white rim of salt crystals lines the edge of the nearest turquoise basin, marking the boundary between liquid and solid.
