Wildflowers Bloom in Reclaimed Scottish Ruin Courtyard

by Andy Lancaster

Low morning light spills across a courtyard where stone walls stand skeletal against a horizon hazy with rising mist. Golden and purple wildflowers push through deep fissures in the crumbling masonry, their delicate stems swaying in the breeze. Tall grasses have overtaken the floor, creating a sea of green and gold that swells around the base of the ruins. The sky holds a soft, pale blue gradient above the distant hills. Shadows stretch long and cool across the uneven ground, highlighting the rough texture of weathered granite blocks. A cluster of heather rests against a broken archway, its vibrant purple against the grey stone. The light catches the dew on the flower heads, making them glow faintly.
