Wild Boar Foraging in Andes Reed Bed Twilight

by Simon Hurley

Cool blue twilight washes the edge of a reed bed in the Andes, where a wild boar moves low to the ground. The animal's coarse, dark bristles catch the fading light, highlighting the texture of its snout as it roots through damp earth and scattered beech mast. Heat haze shimmers above the grassy floor, distorting the horizon slightly and softening the distant mountains. Tall, slender reeds frame the left side, their tips bending under the weight of recent rain. The boar's ears are pinned back, alert to unseen movement, while its hooves press into the soft, muddy soil. One acorn lies half-buried in the foreground, its glossy cap reflecting the pale sky.
