Whitewater Gorge View from Ridge Above Hanover

Midsummer sun bathes a deep river gorge in sharp, dry light. Below, the river churns into white foam as it forces a path through dark, jagged rock. Wind whips the sparse grasses on the ridge edge, bending them into uniform lines against the sky. Layered foothills stretch outward in soft green and gray tones, fading into the distance. The water's surface breaks into chaotic splashes where it hits submerged stones. Sunlight catches the rising mist, creating a faint glow over the turbulent channel. The steep drop-off casts a long shadow across the lower valley floor. A lone rock juts from the water's edge, untouched by the rushing flow.
