A dark vortex churns within a narrow river strait cutting across a wide valley floor in Wales. Late afternoon sun casts the swirling water into a deep silhouette against the bright, shimmering air. Heat haze distorts the horizon where autumn-brown heather meets the pale sky. The water's surface ripples violently around the center, against the still, grassy banks on either side. Distant hills fade into the shimmering atmospheric distortion, showing vast, empty space. A thin line of white foam traces the edge where the dark current meets the calmer water.
