Wheat Field Shadow Misty Dawn Ibadan Tea

by Lola Hensley

Golden stalks of wheat dominate the foreground, their dry, brittle heads bowed slightly under the weight of the approaching harvest. A wide expanse of the field stretches toward the horizon where rows of dark green tea bushes create a dense, textured border against the sky. The air hangs heavy with a pale, gray mist that softens the distant tree line and diffuses the first light of dawn into a cool, even glow. A massive, low-hanging cloud moves silently across the frame, casting a broad, shifting shadow that sweeps across the wheat, turning the golden hues to deep bronze and charcoal in rapid succession. The ground between the stalks is bare and dusty, revealing the dry season's hold on the soil. At the very edge of the frame, a single stalk of wheat stands upright, its tip catching the faintest hint of rising sunlight.
