Wet Sand Ripples on Hungarian Valley Floor
by Molly Wilcox
Soft overcast light diffuses across a wide valley floor in late spring Hungary, where steady rain transforms dry dunes into a textured tapestry of wet sand. Tiny ridges form parallel waves, their peaks glistening with a thin film of water that catches the pale sky. The sand shifts from pale beige to dark, saturated gray where moisture pools in the troughs. Ripples stretch diagonally across the frame, following the rule of thirds, creating a rhythmic pattern that emphasizes the geologic grandeur of the eroded landscape. Raindrops create small, temporary craters on the sand's surface, distorting the smooth curves. The foreground texture is sharp and detailed, showing individual grains clumped by water, while the background fades into a hazy, uniform gray horizon where the valley meets the low clouds.
