Aerial Tidal Flats Ripple Patterns Slovenia
by Mei Gould
Wet mud stretches endlessly across the frame, etched with intricate, parallel ripple patterns that catch the high noon sun. The saturated brown and ochre tones of the exposed sediment contrast sharply with the deep, pooling water trapped in the troughs of the ripples. Above, a heavy sky dominates the upper third, filled with dramatic, towering cumulus clouds that cast soft, shifting shadows across the flat expanse. The water surface acts as a mirror, reflecting the gray and white mass of the clouds while maintaining its own dark, liquid depth. The texture of the mud appears smooth yet fractured by the rhythmic lines of the receding tide, creating a geometric landscape that feels both vast and intimately detailed. A dark shadow from a cloud edge falls across the lower right corner, at the base of the scene in the specific light of the moment.
