Torch Light on Rain Droplets in Togo Ruins in through a courtyard reclaimed by grasses in Togo

Torch Light on Rain Droplets in Togo Ruins

by Glen Frazier

Warm amber light from a handheld torch cuts through the cool twilight air inside a crumbling stone tunnel in Togo. Water droplets suspended in the damp atmosphere glow like suspended gold dust where the beam strikes the rough masonry. Tall, dry grasses reclaim the courtyard beyond the archway, their pale stalks standing against the darkening sky. The stone walls show deep cracks filled with moss and shadow, while the ground beneath remains slick with recent moisture. One beam illuminates a patch of wet gravel, revealing the texture of the eroded surface. The light ends abruptly at the edge of the frame, leaving the rest of the tunnel in deep obscurity.
