Predawn Light on Togo Mining Ruin in along a vine-choked corridor in Togo

Predawn Light on Togo Mining Ruin

by Lillian Jennings

Predawn darkness blankets the vine-choked corridor of an abandoned mining facility in Togo, where heavy ore carts lie half-buried in grey tailings. A sweeping beam of artificial light cuts through the gloom, illuminating dust motes and the rough texture of crumbling concrete walls. Thick vines drape from the ceiling, their leaves catching the harsh white glow while the rest of the structure fades into shadow. The ground is uneven, covered in loose gravel and debris that shifts under the weight of the rusted metal carts. Wind moves unseen through the empty rooms, bending the hanging vegetation slightly. The light edge reveals the peeling paint on a support beam, marking the boundary between the illuminated ruin and the surrounding night.
