Torch Beam Catches Rain in Lombardy Stone Tunnel

by Chester Douglas

Sunset light pours through the missing roof of a stone chamber in Lombardy, casting a dark silhouette of a figure holding an urban exploration torch. The dry season leaves the ancient masonry exposed and dusty, while a brief sun shower scatters bright droplets across the beam. These water drops catch the backlight to form a scattered field of points against the rough, shadowed walls. Crumbling archways create leading lines that guide toward the glowing beam cutting through the twilight. Water beads rest on the metal casing of the torch and reflect the fading orange sky. A small droplet rests on the metal rim at the edge of the light, refracting the last rays of sun.
