Fog Rolling Through Stone Wall Gap Over Thunderheads in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads in Togo

Fog Rolling Through Stone Wall Gap Over Thunderheads

by Troy Cruz

Soft, diffuse light from a late afternoon rain washes over a weathered stone wall where a thick ribbon of white fog spills through a narrow gap. Below the masonry, a vast expanse of stacked thunderheads stretches across the horizon, their dark gray bases resting low against the humid air of the Togolese rainy season. The stones show rough, uneven textures with patches of damp moss clinging to crevices. Layers of mist and cloud recede into the distance, showing deep space between the foreground wall and the distant storm mass. The fog edge blurs softly against the rigid geometry of the stone, while the lowest cloud layer glows faintly with reflected light from the overcast sky. A small patch of wet green grass grows at the base of the wall, against the gray stone.
