Tiffin Tins in Kyoto

A narrow alleyway in Gion glistens under the diffused, cool light of early morning, the dark gray stone pavement reflecting the pale sky. A shopkeeper, barely visible in the dimness of a machiya doorway, carefully arranges a small stack of lacquered tiffin tins on a low wooden counter. Raindrops rest on the glossy red surface of the metal containers, catching the faint ambient glow. Beside them, a single white camellia petal rests on the wet wood, having drifted from the nearby garden.
