Thresher Shark Tail Strike Bait Ball Seagrass

Brilliant turquoise water illuminates a thresher shark from behind as it whips its elongated tail toward a dense cluster of silver bait fish. The shark's dark dorsal fin cuts through the surface of the light, while its tail blade blurs with rapid motion against the suspended plankton haze. Below, a bed of green seagrass sways gently on the sandy ocean floor near Mombasa. The midday sun filters down, creating vertical beams that fade into the distance where the water turns a deeper, softer blue. Tiny scales flash within the bait ball as the fish scatter in a tight, shifting sphere. The shark's skin appears smooth and gray, against the chaotic movement of the prey. One shadow of the tail falls across the sandy bottom.
