Telescope Pier at Dawn in High Desert Marrakech
Misty diffused light from nautical dawn softens the edges of a solitary concrete telescope pier rising from the cracked earth of a high desert yard. Heat haze shimmers above the dusty ground, distorting the horizon line where the pier stands near a weather balloon launch site in Gueliz, Marrakech. The structure features heavy cylindrical supports and a flat platform, its gray surface against the pale blue and orange sky. Converging lines of the surrounding fence and dirt paths draw toward the vanishing point, showing the isolation of the scientific equipment. Late summer dryness is evident in the sparse, brittle grass and the bleached color of the soil. A faint shadow stretches across the foreground, anchoring the pier in the still morning air.
