Surfer Waxing Board at Giza Dawn
by Ella Hickman
Heavy gray clouds press low over the arid landscape near Giza, casting a flat, diffused light across the roadside stop. A surfer stands beside a surfboard, the white foam of wax coating the dark deck in thick, textured stripes. The sand beneath the board is dry and scattered with sparse autumn leaves, contrasting sharply with the wet, sticky wax. Diagonal lines from the board and the surfer's posture create clear immediate tension against the stillness of the morning. The surfer's wetsuit is dark and damp, clinging to the frame as they apply pressure with a block of wax. In the distance, the faint outline of desert dunes meets the overcast sky, while a small puddle of melted wax reflects the dull gray overhead. The texture of the wax is rough and uneven, catching the soft light.
