Surfer Paddling at Dawn Over Bamenda Harbor
by Eva Rojas
First light spills across the horizon haze, casting a pale glow over the choppy waters of the harbor quay near Bamenda. A lone surfer lies prone on a board, arms extended in a rhythmic paddling motion that sends spray flying into the wind. The monsoon season air whips through the frame, distorting the surface of the water into a chaotic field of gray and blue ripples. Dark silhouettes of the quay wall rise on the left, against the bright, hazy sky. The surfer wears a dark wetsuit that rests on the moving body. Behind the rider, the water churns with the energy of the breaking wave, while the low sun strikes the mist, creating a sharp line of gold against the dull morning sky. A white foam trail marks the board's path across the dark water.
